Alexis Childress is a mixed media artist, and first year MFA candidate, interested in systems and identity. Inspired by the symbolism of bees and the visual process of data collection, her current project investigates the intersections of art, research methodology, and specimen archiving. Utilizing these symbologies and systems to create cultural archives, futuristic fossils and embrace Black identity through a lens of Afrofuturism.
